Day 22 of the 31 day blog challenge is… Something I’m Proud Of.
I posted a few days ago about something I never thought I would do. That is running. That is also something I am very proud of. I surprised myself by running in the first place. I really surprised myself by continuing, since I honestly had no desire to run. I’m proud of my discipline and achievements as I’m well on my way to becoming a runner.
To help me, I use an app on my phone called Runkeeper. With this app, I track each run (and walks, as well) for distance and times. Honestly the times aren’t that important to me. Sure, I want to get faster, but I’m just glad I’m doing it. While thinking about this post I decided to look back on how many miles I’ve logged. I started using the app in early May, and as of today I have logged 125.02 miles! About 90% of that is running. The total actually surprised me. I didn’t think I had gone that far.
I am proud of this achievement. In just under 6 months I have started running, participated in four 5K races, continued running on my own, and logged 125 miles. For someone who said they would never run, that’s pretty good! I’m more motivated than ever to keep it going, and I plan to do that. I’ve got two more 5K’s to run this year (unless I find more to register for), and I will continue running 3-4 times per week. Maybe this time next year I’ll have a runner’s body to be proud of.
