Christmas v. Holiday

It’s time again for the annual debate of Christmas v. Holiday. Retailers will once again struggle with the decision of whether to put up signs reading Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. Sadly, most will opt for the more politically correct, generic Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings. Personally I think this debate is pointless and unnecessary. Let me explain.

Regardless of your religious background the holiday we know as Christmas would not even exist had it not been for the birth of Jesus Christ. He is the reason we celebrate the day in the first place. Let’s face it, with Jesus there is no Christmas. So, why argue about whether we’re going to say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Bah Humbug? Let’s call it what it is and just wish everyone Merry Christmas!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject and welcome your comments.
