My Refuge and Strength

I heard Chris Tomlin’s song I Lift My Hands today and was reminded of Psalm 46.

God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble.

I love the song. In fact, it might be my favorite Chris Tomlin song. With all I’m going through now (more on that in a later post) the song and the Psalm are good reminders to me of who is in control. If you continue reading Psalm 46 you see words like “we will not be afraid” and “The Lord of Hosts is with us“. It is much easier to read these words than to rely on them. But, I know, even when I don’t feel it, that God is with me. He is my refuge and strength.
