The cross pictured above hangs on my youngest daughter’s wall. We received it as a gift when she was a baby. The Scripture verse is Matthew 19:14, which reads:
Then Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and don’t try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this.”
The cross is the symbol of my faith. Anyone who has visited my Twitter page knows my background is composed of various crosses. I even have a cross permanently displayed on my arm. The cross is so important because of what Jesus Christ did there…He died for our sins.
Tonight at church we had a special guest speaking to the children. The Scripture verse he taught them was 2 Corinthians 5:7.
For we walk by faith , not by sight.
During his presentation he had a little girl join him on stage to help show what faith means. The trust she showed him reminded me of the Scripture on the cross pictured above. Heaven is full of people with that child-like faith – people who trust Jesus so completely that they are willing to do whatever He asks without question. I was also reminded how far I still have to go in my faith walk. How I wish I had the faith of a child. I’m still learning to walk by faith and not by sight, but far too often I let fears of what I see cloud the view of Jesus in my heart. Instead of walking by faith and trusting Him, I give in and walk by sight. Tonight’s message was a good lesson for the kids, and even more so for me.
