What Do You Do When?

What do you do when????

What do you do when you feel like you’re losing everything?

What do you do when life feels like it is spinning out of control?

What do you do when you feel like you have failed?

What do you do when you feel like you’re walking in faith but God seems so distant?

What do you do when every door seems to be closed?

What do you do when you feel like your prayers either go unanswered or are answered with a no?

What do you do when things seem hopeless?

What do you do when it feels like God isn’t listening?

These are very real questions I have right now, and I would love some answers. I welcome your comments here if you have any sage advice for me.

  1. Mike,
There have been some major times in my life that God said, “wait”. And one of them was a very long wait. 12 years actually. There were many hurdles to go through – I am talking about our battle with infertility. Each day was a mind game….was I going to stay positive, or let this situation beat me down? I had to look to God for ALL the strength, because I knew it wouldn’t come from me. As difficult as that time was, somehow, God got us through it. When I look back now I can see how much God was at work – on me, on Andy. He was shaping and molding us to be the parents he would want us to be. If I had given up, and said, “No, God, I can’t go down the road of In Vitro – too difficult and I am not up to that challenge” then, Parker wouldn’t be here today.

Right now, God is shaping you, molding you for that next big thing. The ultimate question we have is “when?” When are you going to open that next door, God? It is very understandable to doubt and that doubt can either beat you down, or help you continue the fight. Don’t let it keep you down!

Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.”

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Mike, you have been faithful in your walk and I know that God is protecting you right now, even when you don’t sense it. Keep the faith. Be still and know that He is God.

We love you and are praying for you daily,
    Lee Ann

  2. Lee Ann, Thank you for the comment and for sharing your story. I do know God is sovereign in all things, but these questions still pop up. Yesterday was just a really tough day for me, thus prompting the post. One good thing that I am seeing through all of this is my faith growing stronger. Unfortunately those times of doubt still creep in.

Thanks for your continued prayers and words of support.
