Tell Everyone

18 Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 2 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 (HCSB)

Most everyone is familiar with the Scripture passage above. We know it as the Great Commission. Jesus commanded His disciples to go and tell everyone about the Good News. That’s where many people stop. They think this was just intended for the disciples. But, in reality, this is Jesus’ instructions for each of us. We have been commissioned by Christ to go into all the world and tell everyone. Unfortunately this is not an easy thing for many of us to do.

The mission statement of the church of which I am a member, ClearView Baptist Church, reads as follows:

ClearView exists to make radical disciples who are focused on making God famous to the ends of the earth.

Each of us, as a follower of Christ, is challenged to do just that. Many people are scared to share their faith with others because they don’t know how, or they fear being ridiculed or rejected. Whatever the reason, we must overcome our fears and follow the command of Jesus. We, as Christ followers, exist to bring Him glory and honor and to tell others about Him so they, in turn, can bring Him glory and honor.

So, does this mean you need to pack up everything and move halfway around the world? Maybe, but not necessarily. It starts at home. There are lost people all around us: in our neighborhoods, at our jobs (or schools), even right beside us in church. Everyone can start locally, and then we can expand globally through mission trips, and possibly even becoming a foreign missionary. The bottom line is we must be obedient to Christ’s Great Commission and tell everyone about Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for leaving instructions with us for what we are to do. Help me to overcome my fears and share the message of Your Gospel with everyone. Help me be strong and courageous so I can make radical disciples to further Your kingdom. In Your name I pray. Amen.
