A Perfect Song for Me

I recently heard a song that is perfect for me and what’s going on in my life now. My regular readers know the story…I took a step in faith back in August by quitting my job without another one lined up. Today I’m still in transition and wondering what God is going to do and where He will lead me. That’s why this song is perfect for me. The song is Keeping Me Guessing by Francesca Battistelli. Check out some of the lyrics.

I try and try
To read your mind
‘Cause I forget that patience is a virtue
You’re teaching me to hold on tight

(Chorus)
‘Cause I don’t know how the story ends
But I’ll be alright ‘cause You wrote it
I don’t know where the highway bends
But I’m doing just fine
‘Cause You’re in control
Even when I don’t know
Where my life’s gonna go
You’re keeping me guessing

So slow me down
Show me around
I want to see the world
That I’ve been without
I am here and now
The future is out of my hands

I’m trusting you
And how you move
I won’t forget that patience is a virtue
You’re teaching me to hold on tight

Seasons come
And seasons go
But you decide

When I heard the song I had prayed for God to reveal to me His plan for my career and life. I have faith that He is going to lead me to something great, but it’s hard to wait on His timing. As the song says, “I forget that patience is a virtue“. While I didn’t get an answer to that prayer, I did get an understanding that He is in control and I don’t need to worry. My favorite part of the song, which tells me that everything will be fine, is the chorus.

‘Cause I don’t know how the story ends
But I’ll be alright ‘cause You wrote it
I don’t know where the highway bends
But I’m doing just fine
‘Cause You’re in control
Even when I don’t know
Where my life’s gonna go
You’re keeping me guessing

I don’t know how this part of the story will end, and I don’t know where He is going to lead me. But, I do know that He has written the story, and I do know that He is in control. I can rest in that wonderful truth and trust Him to continue to provide. God is good!
