During my job search I have prayed that God would open doors of opportunity for me. Unfortunately, I’ve felt as if He is closing doors instead of opening them. It seems that every avenue I explore leads to a dead-end and a closed-door. I was beginning to get a little frustrated with this, but then it struck me. God is closing the doors He doesn’t want me to enter!
I’ve come to realize that everything happens for a reason. God is leading me exactly where He wants me to go. He is closing doors that I’m choosing because He knows they aren’t the right ones. When the time, and place, is right, I’m confident He will open the doors.
When I start to feel frustrated or discouraged it seems I have received some little reminder that He is working and providing for me. For example, last night at church Elise was given a Bible verse card. Jacinda gave it to me and said I needed to read it. Was she ever right! The verse is 1 Peter 5:6, which reads…
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you in due time.
I also keep hearing songs and reading devotionals about waiting on God. And, today I received something in an e-mail that had these words included.
May there be peace within you today. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
I’m still praying that God will open doors for me, but at the same time I am thanking Him for closing the ones He doesn’t want me to enter. May I continue to walk in faith, trusting His provision and plan for me.
