Today is day 1 of my journey down the path God is paving for me in my career. I don’t yet know where it will lead, but I’m confident He will lead me exactly where He wants me to go. I plan to update this blog daily, if I can, to track the steps of my journey. I can’t wait to look back and read these to see what God does for me. So, today I begin with Trusting God.
When I awoke this morning I had an agenda all planned out. I had phone calls to make, e-mails to send, and people to meet. All of this was part of my job search. I’m doing all of those things today, but I wanted to take a few minutes out and write this blog post. You see, I was reminded this morning that the first thing I needed to do was trust God.
When I grabbed my Blackberry this morning and checked e-mails and social networks I discovered a couple of very interesting messages. The first was a weekly devotional by James MacDonald that I receive in my e-mail. Today’s title???…I Choose to Trust. As I read I realized right away what my focus needed to be today – trusting God. Here is a quote from the devotional that sums up what I have done with my career search.
Trust is the act of my will to give up my burdens to God. It’s like a muscle – as you exercise it, trust gets stronger. Trust is walking forward moment by moment, having rolled your burden onto God.
That’s exactly what I’ve tried to do with this – give the burden of finding a new career over to God and leaning on His promises that He will lead me. The Scripture that went along with the devotional today has become my verse of the day.
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
I shared this verse via Twitter, and one of the responses I received from a friend suggested I read Psalm 37:4-6, which says:
Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.
I’m amazed by God’s perfect timing! He knew exactly what I needed to hear today. In addition to these I received a Facebook message from a friend and former co-worker. He told me he was praying for me and offered these words of encouragement.
I do know that our God is the same today as he was thousands of years ago – HE WILL take care of you and He will show you the plan He has for you.
His message to me told me exactly what James MacDonald’s devotional and the Scripture references told me…TRUST GOD!!
I’m overwhelmed by so many of you out there sending me words of encouragement and offering your help. God is using many of you to help me follow His will for my career. I want to say thank you to everyone who is helping me. Please continue to pray for me and my family as I (we) trust God through this process.
