Today Jacinda made her third trip to the ER this year. Yep, that’s right. It’s only mid-February and she has been in the ER three times. Her first trip, on January 8, was because of severe abdominal pain, which turned out to be her appendix. She was taken into surgery that day and spent the night in the hospital. About 10 days later she was back at the ER with…you guessed it…severe abdominal pain. That time the doctors could not find what was causing it, so she was sent home and things seemed to be OK. That brings us to today.
It all began overnight Monday when Jacinda once again experienced…are you ready for this…severe abdominal pain. (Do you see a pattern here???) She was in terrible pain yesterday and even drove to the hospital. She didn’t even go inside because the pain had subsided. Of course that didn’t last long. She had a rough night again last night and made the decision to go on to the ER again this morning. The doctor discovered a ruptured ovarian cyst, which he said was causing the sever pains. There was really nothing the doctor could do except give her medication for the pain and send her home.
So, now here we are at home and Jacinda is resting. The pain medication must be doing its job because she has been asleep most of the afternoon. The doctor said she would be in pain for a few days and she needs to see her OB/GYN. I’m glad we found out what was causing the pain, but I hate that she is going through all of this. I know she is tired of it and ready to be back to normal. After three hospital visits, surgery and an overnight hospital stay in just over a month we are both saying enough with hospitals already! Let’s just hope we’re done with them for the year!
