Merry Christmas!

Today is Christmas! What does that mean to you? For me it is a wonderful time with my family. I love seeing my girls wake up with so much excitement Christmas morning. Elise went to bed smiling and woke up the same way. She was the first girl up and proceeded to wake Rachel. We gathered in our bed, as usual, and read the Christmas story from Luke 2. Today Elise started the story and read up the shepherds. Rachel took over from there and finished it out. Then we headed downstairs to see what Santa had left.

My second favorite part of the morning is watching those girls open their gifts. I love the squeals of delight when they see what they got. This year did not disappoint. They got several things they asked for and a few unexpected gifts. It was a great morning.

While all of the gift giving and fun of Christmas morning is wonderful, the best part of the day is the real reason we celebrate…Jesus Christ! This is the day we set aside to remember the birth of the Messiah and the reason he came into this world. God the Father gave us all the greatest gift of all by sending His one and only son to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. That is Christmas and the reason we celebrate. Without Jesus Christ there is no CHRISTmas!

So, I hope today is a great day for everyone. I hope you have lots of fun and make memories with your family. I hope you received the gifts you wanted and got plenty of pictures of the kids opening their gifts. But most importantly I pray that you remember the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the coming of the Savior of the world!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
