Today’s post is all about my youngest daughter, Elise. God blessed us with her on May 26, 2000. It’s hard to believe that my baby girl is now 9 years old! It has been a genuine pleasure to watch her grow and develop over the last 9 years. Elise is such a joy, and here are a few of the things that makes her so special.
First I must say that, like Rachel, Elise is very smart. I am so proud of her for the good grades she has earned in school. She has become a very good student, and I pray that continues as she enters 4th grade this fall.
Second, Elise has the biggest heart! She has always just been so sweet and kind. She has a genuine love for her family and often volunteers to share with me, Jacinda and Rachel. Elise loves to help others as well. She is always willing to jump in and help with projects around the house or at church. She just seems to have a knack for that stuff. I love this quality in Elise and hope that she rubs off on me when I’m not quite as willing to offer my assistance.
Finally, Elise is funny. I’ll take that a step further and say she can be down right hilarious at times. She definitely has a talent for making people laugh, and loves to be the center of attention. We often say that one day she’s going to be on stage in some capacity. She will often just come up with a funny line or quirky comment when you least expect it. One that I’ll always remember happened in Home Depot several years ago. One of the cartoons we enjoy is Fairly Odd Parents. If you’ve seen it you’ll know Cosmo has been known to reflect on something and say, “Good times. Gooood times”. Well, Elise and I were walking through Home Depot when she suddenly asked me if I remembered something (I don’t recall what it was). I said yes, to which she replied, “Good times. Gooood times”. I busted out laughing right there in the store and am sure others there thought I had lost my mind. Leave it to Elise to say or do something funny like that when you least expect it.
I could go on and on about Elise, and Rachel. There are simply far too many character traits for me to list here. Elise, when you read this know that I love you with all of my heart and am so glad God gave you to me. Thank you for bringing lots of laughter to my life! Remember, I’m always here for you.
I’ll end this series of posts by saying that I am so proud of both my girls. Rachel and Elise have brought (and continue to bring) so much joy to my life. They are great kids, and I love them so very much! I pray for them daily and am so thankful that God sent them to me. I pray that I will be the best dad to them and that we will always be close. Girls, I love you both!!!
