Things are difficult right now. Everyone knows that. The economy is the worst we have seen. Unemployment is at its highest levels in nearly 30 years. Almost every day when I read the news online the headlines include company X announces a number of layoffs. It seems the cost of everything we need is increasing, while salaries are decreasing. It is a scary time for lots of folks. So, what do we do? My answer is simple…trust God!
I know that is easy to say, but not always easy to do. There is so much going on around me that I cannot control, so I am trying to put my trust in Him daily. I have witnessed several layoffs at my job. I have seen and experienced a decrease in wages and an increase in insurance costs. I have seen people lose their jobs in this tough economy only to quickly find new and better opportunities. That has to be a God thing. So, I put my trust in Him. I cannot control the state of the economy. I’m thankful I have my job, but I know the security that was once there is no longer in place. I can’t worry about that. All I can do is continue to do my best and put my trust in God. No matter what happens, if I’m trusting Him things will work out for the best.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 (HCSB)
