This past weekend was packed from beginning to end with a wide array of Christmas activities. It was a very busy, but good, weekend. We began Friday night by attending Brentwood High School’s production of A Christmas Carol. The high school kids put on a great show, and my girls really seemed to enjoy it. Rachel particularly liked the spirits. Following the show we drove through a few Brentwood neighborhoods so the girls could see the Christmas lights.
Saturday brought the busiest day of the weekend for us. We began the day with a trip to school for the annual book fair. From there we made our weekly Costco run, then back home for a quick lunch. Our next stop was Jim Warren park, the staging area for the Franklin Christmas Parade. Elise’s cheer club from Winstead Elementary was in the parade. Jacinda decided to walk along with the cheerleaders, so Rachel and I dropped them off and headed to find a viewing spot along the parade route. This year makes the 6th Christmas since we’ve lived in Franklin, and this is the first time we have seen the parade. Rachel really enjoyed it, and we saw several friends in the parade. I think we’ll go back and see it again next year. As soon as the parade ended it was off to church for the girls’ dress rehearsal for their Christmas program. We dropped the girls off then hit the mall for a little Christmas shopping. After picking the girls up from rehearsal it was time to head home for a quick dinner and change of clothes. Then we were off again, this time to a Christmas dessert party at our friends’ home. Of course that was lots of fun!! We finally called it a night and got home around 9:30 PM.
Sunday morning began as it usually does with worship at the best church in the world! After lunch at home we had some brief down time. Then it was time to head back to church to see the ClearView Children’s Choir present their Christmas musical The Mystery of the Manger. The kids put on a great show! We have some very talented people in our church, including many of these children. There were several soloists and speakers in the program. Our girls did a great job and seemed to have lots of fun. Rachel had a brief speaking part and danced as well. The crowd was pleased with the performance and gave the kids a standing ovation, which was well deserved. After the show we hit Jason’s Deli for dinner, before I headed back to church for a late orchestra rehearsal. I finally made it home shortly after 8:00 PM.
It was a busy weekend, but we had fun. One down, more to come! This week and the coming weekend will be packed full once again. Of course that’s to be expected this time of the year. Oh well. At least we are having fun. ‘Tis the season!
