Washington, D.C….Day 1

Today was our first full day of vacation in Washington, D.C., and we had a fun-filled and very full day. We started this morning with a visit to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. There we viewed all sorts of airplanes and spacecraft. There was so much to see and do. The girls had a good time with the numerous exhibits and hands-on activities. After lunch we headed down the Mall toward the U.S. Capitol building. We didn’t go to the Capitol today since we have a tour scheduled for Wednesday, but we did get a few good pictures, as you can see here. From there we visited the National Archives, where we viewed the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Bill of Rights. Also on display there is the Magna Carta, and various letters to and from former Presidents. We ended our day back in Old Town Alexandria (VA) with a visit to a local restaurant, the Hard Times Cafe, for dinner. It was a good day!
